Summary: Lieutenant Andrey Kanaev serves abroad, in Czechoslovak Socialist Republic. Soviet troops are pulled out back into the USSR. Kanaev’s unit is disbanded. Andrey is disappointed by his dismissal and shares his sorrow with a buddy of his – Marek, a Czech.
Marek organizaes a frame-up, as a result of which Kanaev winds up under persecution by law. Through his talent hunter Sophie Marek helps Andrey to flee to France. Left alone in a strange land, out of despair Andrey joins the Foreign Legion. He is recruited by Chief of Foreign Intelligence Monsieur Daniel. And soon, in his new status and with a new ID, Andrey returns to Russia, right after the perestroika, to start with a clean slate, but he has to remember to carry out commissions for his new empoyers…
